The Only Good Indians
Author:
Steven Graham Jones
Genre:
Contemporary, Horror
Overview:
As young men, four Blackfeet Indian men committed a crime — they violated the law of the land and killed an entire elk tribe. Ten years later, the spirit of the elk haunt the men, enacting vengeance on them and their loved ones.
Review:
Interesting parallels for the genocide of native americans and the intergenerational rage that can linger long after an act of violence. Ultimately, the pacing was uneven and characters lacked focus— I got whiplash trying to follow their train of thought. Cheap shortcuts throughout.
My Rating:
3 stars
Beverage Pairing: You’ll want to cleanse the temple after this one. Perhaps a Sage and Maple Toddy will do the trick (thanks World Market for the idea and recipe).
